The Latvian National Federation in Canada invites you to virtual meetings on February 25 and March 6.

Greetings from the LNAK Statute Committee – Ilze Kuplēna-Ewart (committee head), Jānis Lielāmers, Patriks Rundāns, Astrīde Sīls and Viesturs Zariņš!

Based on consultations that we have had with all the Latvian organizations, informal associations, clubs and cultural ensembles across Canada that we were able to reach, the LNAK Statute Committee has been considering how to incorporate the feedback in LNAK’s future operations.

One of the suggestions has been to once again allow organizations to be LNAK members. Another question that has been raised, is whether individuals could also be members, or could they be members only through an organization to which they belong?

Another key observation is that LNAK is perceived as being Toronto-centric. How can we help LNAK better serve all of Canada, instead of emphasizing just Toronto, or at best Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa?

In December, we presented a draft of a proposed new structure to the LNAK Board. Now we would like to get your input.

On Sunday, February 25, at 13:00 ET we invite every LNAK member, and anyone who is interested in learning about the possible change to the LNAK structure, to a virtual meeting, where you will be able to hear about the proposed new structure, and have an opportunity to provide your observations and suggestions.

On Wednesday, March 6 at 19:00 ET we invite organizations and associations, along with regional representatives, to a virtual meeting to hear your feedback.

Both meetings will be conducted in Latvian. If necessary, we will offer a third meeting in English.

Please sign up by sending an email to lnak@lnak.org, so that we have an idea of attendance, and can send you the Zoom link.

We invite you to stay abreast of developments in the LNAK Facebook page Latvian National Federation in Canada/Latviesu nacionālā apvienībā Kanādā, as well as on our website www.lnak.org.

See you soon!

Ilze Kuplēna-Ewart
