There are a number of Canadian Latvians with dual citizenship, who are residing in Latvia, but working remotely for a Canadian company. They are enjoying the lifestyle, the food, the culture, the lower cost of living, the proximity to nature, and all things Latvian, without having to change jobs.
But if you don’t have Latvian citizenship, and would like to try out living in and working from Latvia, you can take advantage of a so called “nomad” visa, a long-stay visa for remote work.
A long-stay visa for one year can be requested by citizens of third countries who are employed by an employer registered in a member state, such as Canada, of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development or are self-employed persons registered in one of these countries, and who can perform their duties remotely while staying in the Republic of Latvia.
