Solidarity through Song and Dance – a fundraising event in support of humanitarian needs in Ukraine – in Ottawa on March 2.

The Ottawa Latvian dance troup “Rotaļa”, together with the Ottawa Ukrainian Ladies Committee, is organising a fundraising event to support humanitarian needs in Ukraine on March 2 at 18:00. Solidarity Through Song and Dance.

After almost two years of war, Ukrainians need to feel our support. We would like Ukrainians in Canada to feel this support, as the Latvian community here shows how much Ukrainian dance, song and food are appreciated. And that there are Latvians who want to donate to Ukraine.

The programme includes both Ukrainian and Latvian dances, songs and food. We will also dance a Latvian folk dance and sing a Ukrainian song together. The evening will be accompanied by Latvian dances and Ukrainian popular music for the audience’s dancing pleasure. There will also be cakes, tasty drinks and a raffle table.

If you can’t make it to the event, you can also donate money. Every contribution counts. We are donating to three organizations: Save Ukraine Rescue Missions, Canada Ukraine Foundation and BCU Foundation.

This event is an opportunity for the Canadian and Latvian community to actively support Ukraine in its fight against Russian attacks and the two-year-old war. Let us also take every opportunity to remind politicians that the Canadian government should give even more support to Ukraine, both for military and humanitarian purposes.

With the support of LNAK, we are creating a card that we will distribute to event attendees, inviting them to send the cards to their MPs to remind them that support for Ukraine is our priority.

This event is a fundraiser for Ukraine and a reminder from the Latvian community in Canada that we are with you.

Please consider donating, even if you can’t come to Ottawa to attend the event. This is an opportunity for us, for the Latvian community as a whole, to show our strong support.
