LNAK Letter of Condolence on the loss of four Canadian soldiers

On behalf of the Latvian National Federation in Canada, I wish to express our deepest condolences on the tragic loss of four Canadian soldiers and the many seriously injured who were preparing for deployment to Latvia.

We were profoundly saddened to learn of this tragedy. These soldiers had committed themselves to the service of Canada and to the defence of peace, security, and freedom alongside Canada’s allies. Their willingness to serve far from home, including in support of NATO’s mission in Latvia, reflects the highest traditions of Canadian military duty and sacrifice.

The Latvian community across Canada joins in mourning this loss. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families, friends, and comrades of the fallen soldiers, as well as to the entire Canadian Armed Forces community at CFB Wainwright and our sincere hope for recovery to those injured in this tragic event. Their grief and suffering is shared by the Latvian diaspora in Canada, whose members have long valued Canada’s steadfast commitment to the security of Latvia and the Baltic region.

Please also convey to the families of the deceased and injured that the people of Latvia remember them with gratitude and respect. All Latvians recognize the dedication and courage of the Canadian men and women who contribute to the defence of our country and the preservation of peace in Europe. The sacrifice of these soldiers will not be forgotten.

At this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with the Canadian Armed Forces and with all those affected by this loss.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Fritz Traugott Kristbergs
President Latvian National Federation in Canada

May the memory of these soldiers be a lasting source of honour and inspiration.
