Dziesmu svētki Kanadā (un kopš 2019.g. “Dziesmu un Deju svētki”) tiek rīkoti kopš 1953.g. – 70 gadi!  XVI svētki arī svinēs Dziesmu svētku kustības Latvijā 150gadi (ar filmu “Zeme kas dzied” kura atzīmē pirmos svētkus 1873.g.)  25+ sarīkojumos 4 dienās būs: koncerti un izrādes, izstādes un izbraukumi, teātris, filmas, tirdziņš un vēl un vēl.  Starp īpāšiem svētku viesiem ir: leģendārie “Raxtu Raxti”, izcilais Latvijas Universitātes koris “Aura” (ar Latvijas Universitātes fonda atbalstu), burvīgais tautas deju ansamblis “Teiksma”, Metropolitēna operas zvaigzne Maija Kovaļevska, komponists Raimonds Tiguls (arī ar LUF atbalstu), Latvijas Lielās mūzikas balvas laureāte Arta Jēkabsone, un tūkstošiem dalībnieku no Kanadas, ASV, Eiropas un Latvijas.

Song Festivals in Canada (and since 2019 “Festivals of Song and Dance”) have taken place since 1953 – 70 years!  The XVI Festival also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Song Festival movement in Latvia, (with the North American premiere of the film “Zeme kas dzied” – “The Nation that Sings” about the first festival in 1873).  25+ events over 4 days offer concerts, performances and events, theatre and films, galleries and excursions, our famous marketplace and more and more.  Special Festival guests include the legendary “Raxtu Raxti”, the wonderful University of Latvia choir “Aura” (sponsored by the University of Latvia Foundation), magical Folk Dance ensemble “Teiksma”, Metropolitan Opera star Maija Kovaļevska, composer Raimonds Tiguls (also with LUF support), Latvia’s “Grand Music Prize” laureate Arta Jēkabsone, and thousands of participants from Canada, the USA, Europe and Latvia.
