“Black and White” – Resisting Disinformation

“Black on White” is a long-term communication project of the Strategic Communication Coordination Department of the State Chancellery (State Chancellery StratCom) to increase the Latvian public’s resilience to disinformation and other methods of manipulation in the information space.

No one wants to fall into a trap set by liars or to be fooled. The Chancellery therefore invites you to use the knowledge and resources gathered on this platform to train yourself to think critically, to distinguish between facts and lies, and to strengthen your objective view of what is happening around you – so that everything becomes clear as black and white.

We live in a time when news headlines and seemingly innocent exchanges on social media can decide political decisions or force people to act against their will, and when technology, used skilfully, can create a glamorous illusion that is often hard to distinguish from the truth. In conditions of geopolitical uncertainty, countries unfriendly to Latvia may use manipulation of the information space, including disinformation operations, to interfere in democratic processes or to achieve other goals to their advantage.

“Black on White calls for a daily N.T.A. scheme: notice, think, act!
