Commemoration in Ottawa of the June 14, 1941 Mass Deportations from the Baltic States

Commemorating the June 14 mass deportations from 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇱🇻 Latvia and Lithuania 🇱🇹 A commemoration of the thousands of victims of the regime of communism who were deported to Siberia was held in Ottawa, Canada, at the Memorial to the Victims of Communism – Canada, a Land of Refuge.
Alongside the Estonian Ambassador Margus Rava and Lithuanian Ambassador Egidijus Meilūnas, representatives of the Baltic community and the head of the NGO “Tribute To Liberty” Ludwik Klimkowski, the Ambassador of Latvia Kaspars Ozoliņš and the President of the Latvian National Association in Canada Dr. Rev. Fritz Traugott Kristbergs addressed those who had gathered. At the end, the participants united in prayer, which was said by the Latvian Ev.lut. Pastor of the Peace parish Indra Skuja-Grīsle.

The Memorial was inaugurated in 2024. The monument of national importance was built by 🇨🇦 the Canadian state with the support of donors, including the Latvian state, compatriots and diaspora organizations in Canada.
