Baltic Artists’ Association’s 20 Year Anniversary Celebration in Montreal

On September 26, 2025, the Baltic Artists’ Association (BAA) celebrated its 20th anniversary in Montreal. Rita Jozuus represented Montreal’s Latvians, both as a member of the organization, and with a painting. Last November 18, Rita received the World Federation of Free Latvians’ (PBLA) Certificate of Recognition for her long-standing work with the organization. The BAA is special because it has been able to bring together the Balts. As our numbers dwindle, we get less and less participants at our separate events, but when we work together, we get a good number. This event attracted about half a hundred. The audience was addressed by representatives from all three Baltic States, both from the Baltic States and locally from Montreal. Rita Jozuus introduced Gunta Dreifelds; she congratulated the anniversary on behalf of the LNAK Educational and Cultural Foundation (ECF), which also supported the event financially. Gunta could identify who was Estonian because they tend to dress in blue, white and black, Lithuanians because they are tall, and Latvians because they are our own people. The Leimanis clan from the family of Andris Leimans were present in large numbers. It was a lovely event in a lovely environment in an informal atmosphere.
