Who can vote:
- Latvian citizens who own real estate in Latvia or have a registered place of residence in Latvia
- and have reached the age of 18
When to vote:
- send your vote by post to arrive in Latvia by June 7
- in view of the possible upcoming postal strike in Canada, MAIL IN YOUR VOTE NOW!
What you need to vote:
- eID card andSmart Card reader
- and one of the following
- eSignature
- mobile eSignature
- Smart ID
How to apply and vote
The Central Election Commission has made a video with very clear instructions. Watch the video first.
If you want to follow written instructions, read on.
- Visit www.latvija.gov.lv
- Click on “Vēlētāju datu pārvaldība” (Voter data Management)
- Click on “Pieprasīt pakalpojumu” (Request service)
- Click on “I agree…” (Confirm)
- Click on the authorization method you wish to use…. eID, eSignature, eSignature mobile, Smart ID, or your Latvian bank account log-in
- Follow the instructions to log in (you will need an eID card, a reader, the relevant software, a personal identification number and either a password or PIN and PUK codes)
- If you have any difficulties or don’t quite understand what to do, please contact admin@lnak.org and we will try to help
- Example if using SmartId:
- enter your personal code and click on “Authenticate”
- Click “Iepazinos ar nosacījumiem” (I accept the conditions)
- Click on “Turpināt” (Continue)
- Click on “Tālāk” (Next)
- Your data will be displayed on the screen, i.e. your person code and name
- Click on “Reģistrēties” (Register)
- Make note of your “kārtas numurs”
- Click on “Lejupielādēt datni” (Download file)
- A zip file will land in your “Download” folder
- Click on the zip file
- There will be four files:
- Attestation form – you need to print it, fill it in and sign it
- Envelope – a sample envelope to send to your local authority
- Postal voting guide – instructions on how to vote
- Ballot sheets for each party- print the ballot with the list of candidates you want to vote for
