Online “Summer School of Latvian Language and Culture” for diaspora youth July 3-16

This year the University of Latvia in collaboration with the Latvian Language Agency and the Ministry of Education and Science is offering the summer school for diaspora youth for the 7th time.

This year the summer school is being offered online, so that anyone across the world can participate without having to travel to Latvia.

Participant age: from 17 to 35

Summer school dates: from July 3 to July 16

Time:

  • From 16:00 to 19.00 Rīga time, for the A0-A1 Latvian language level
  • From 16:00 to 19.00 Rīga time for the A2-B1 Latvian language level

The summer school is offered free of charge.

We are planning for up to ten participants in each group.

We are planning for two groups:

  • a beginner level (A0-A1),
  • a pre-intermediate level(A2) and intermediate level (B1)

Participants will be assigned to groups according to their Latvian language skills.

In order to apply, you must:

  • fill out an application form;
  • write a motivation letter

The application deadline is June 1, 2024.

For those who wish to attend the Latvian Language and Culture Summer School in person, there is a second summer school that will take place from July 18 to July 31. It includes Latvian language classes and an extensive cultural programme.

The fee is EUR 699, which includes Latvian language classes, lectures, museum tours, and excursions to Riga, Cēsis and Kuldīga. The fee does not include accomodations or meals.
