What started in 2024 as a project, supported by the Society Integration Fund of Latvia,\u00a0to identify and gather Latvian language resources<\/a> in a special section of the LNAK website, has evolved into a broader initiative. Thank-you to project leader ESL specialist Dr. Aija Mazs\u012blis for making this happen and for nurturing the development of a Latvian\u00a0language learner community. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here are some ways you can support your Latvian language journey today:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

– make use of the Latvian language resource section<\/a> on the LNAK website<\/span><\/p>\n

– dip into Latvian language and culture every day by following the monthly \u201cSparks\u201d calendar <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

– join the \u201cLetts Jump into Latvian\u201d WhatsApp group<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

– if you live\u00a0in the Toronto area, join the Latvian Centre Toronto brunch volunteer group with a Latvian language facilitator for camaraderie and an immersive experience as you slice, dice and serve brunch in Latvian; the next brunch is on May 11\u00a0with prep on May 10; please sign up through the WhatsApp group or by writing to jumpintolatvian@lnak.org<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

– participate in the May 24 and June 14 seminars in Sidrabene<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Thank-you to all who responded to the\u00a0\u201cLetts Jump into Latvian\u201d survey<\/a>, which helped us understand what you would like to see in terms of programming and support for your language learning needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on your input, we are looking on these<\/strong> possible future initiatives:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– Saturday morning in-person Latvian language classes for adults, possibly launching in the fall in the Golden Horseshoe, Ontario<\/span><\/p>\n

– a Zoom language cafe; there is interest in this across Canada from Vancouver to Halifax<\/span><\/p>\n
